Women's Teams

We currently have 3 women's teams. The Women's 3rd team is the clubs newest team and as of 2024 they enter the league as a full team and no longer a Dev side.

Women's 1st Team

The Women's 1s were formed in the 2011-12 season. After winning Trelawney Division 2 in their first year, the side have since competed in Trelawney Div. 1, narrowly missing out on promotion on three separate occasions.

They have won the Cornwall Plate 4 times and 2018-19 saw the side finally gain promotion to South Division after a fine season which saw the side win 20 of their 22 matches, however were relegated back to Trelawney Division 1 after the early curtailment of the season due to Covid-19.

After a period of rebuilding, the season of 22/23 saw Duchy ladies repromoted to South 2 where the ladies spent a brief stint after being promoted for a second year running in the 23/24 season to South 1. After this success they were nominated for England Hockey’s team of the year where they received a certificate of commendation for only losing 1 game in 2 seasons.

The Women's 1s is coached by Tom O’Boyle. The team is captained by one of the club's longest standing members, Amy Chippett and along with Vice Captain Amy Looker they have become the highest achieving team at Duchy Hockey Club.

Women's 2nd Team

This is the Duchy Women’s 2 Team. Our Captain and Vice Captain are Martha and Jorja. We are a fully competitive Team playing in the Women’s Trelawny 2s League and are aiming for a promotion for the 2024/25 season. We are a Bubbly, fun team with a mass variety of ages throughout.

Our aims each weekend are to do our best and have fun. We celebrate each loss and win the same and keep our heads through the toughest of matches. We love to have a laugh and catch up on our lives together after intensive, focused training and at after match teas; and we love hearing our supporters on the sidelines, whether they’re parents, friends, family or just member of the public that like to watch hockey, any supporter is welcome!

Women's 3rd Team

The Woman’s 3s are DuchyHC newest team; after only 1-year as a ‘development’ team they are set to officially compete for their first year in the West Hockey Women’s Trelawney Division 2 league, alongside DHC Woman’s 2s in the same division.

W3s are an inclusive team, with a blend of senior and young talent, accepting all players regardless of skill, ability or ‘experience’. The objective of this team is focused on giving all players an opportunity to develop their understanding of the game within a fun but challenging environment, particularly supporting the young players to perform to the high standards required to progress to various levels within the club.

The team will be captained by Toni Whatley for a second year in the 24/25 season.

The team train on Wednesday evenings at Pool Academy between 6.30pm-8pm and is coached by Scott LB and Hannah Smith.
